Dick founded the Bay Area Scala Enthusiasts (BASE)— One of the first Scala user groups. Dick is also the first recipient of the Phil Bagwell Memorial Scala Community Award. He is a committer on several Scala open source projects and creator of SubCut - a dependency injection solution for Scala.
